Pump Protection

Application

Pump protection for a tailings dam.

Key Requirements

  • ‘Dry-run’ monitoring for pump protection
  • Suspended solids to not affect the flow sensor’s operation
  • Easily adjustable switching point
  • Wide voltage range
  • Robust housing

Solution

weber 4120.12M flow-captor with the following key features;

  • Calorimetric principle flow sensor capable of monitoring flow rates of up to 3m/s and switching loads of up to 400mA
  • Stainless steel insertion probe than can withstand pressures of up to 100 bar and is not affected by suspended solids
  • Easily accessible range and set point adjustments with a visual analogue display of flow rate
  • Wide 10VDC to 36VDC range
  • Stainless steel IP67 housing that withstands ambient temperatures of up to 70 deg C

Underground Mine Water Level Monitoring

Application

Monitoring of the water level within an underground coal mine.

Key Requirements

  • Certified for use within an underground coal mine (potential for methane gas)
  • Analogue output to measure up to 30m of water depth
  • Facility for cable and catenary connection to lower the transmitter 300m down a bore
  • High accuracy and repeatability
  • Sensor referenced to atmosphere

Solution

STS ATM.ECO/N/Ex submersible pressure transmitter with the following key features;

  • IECEx certification
  • 4-20mA output with 3X overpressure on a 0-30m range transducer
  • 330m intrinsically safe ‘blue’ cabling with Viton seals and catenary fittings on the rear of the stainless steel housing
  • 0.1% FS accuracy with temperature compensation from -5 to 80 deg C
  • Sensor referenced to atmosphere via an integrated ‘breathing’ filter
